Applied Value and Child10 continue to join forces in the fight against child trafficking, this time, focusing especially on girls who have been victims of trafficking for sexual exploitation.
One in every three victims of human trafficking today is a child, most often, a girl. In fact, women and girls make up over 90% of all victims of human trafficking for sexual exploitation (UNODC). To address this heinous crime, there is an urgent need for cross-national and cross-sectoral collaboration to find durable long-term solutions and to provide support to organizations fighting at the grassroots level. After a successful joint program in 2020, Child10 and Applied Value will continue to expand their partnership in 2021 to support and strengthen organizations combating trafficking of girls for sexual exploitation across Europe.
“Trafficking of children is a heinous act and we should all bear the responsibility to prevent it from happening. It is undoubtedly one of the darkest subjects to address, however that is not a reason to shy away from it. We at Applied Value are not intimidated by this darkness – on the contrary, we find it is imperative to shed light on this monstrous phenomenon in hope that this would urge more people to want to take up the fight to counter trafficking”, says Martine Cassar Director of Social Investments at Applied Value Group
The partnership will see Applied Value providing direct support to all ten Child10 Awarded Members for 2021. The support for these organizations will focus on strengthening the management and sustainability to scale the impact of their work and to address specific challenges affecting each organization.
“To end child trafficking we need bold and committed front runners. Applied Value is a great example on how the private sector can take responsibility in securing children’s rights in one of the most challenging issues of our time. It is essential that all actors in society work together to end trafficking and sexual exploitation of children and we are so happy to join forces with Applied Value to set a standard for collaborative impact in this field where private sector involvement has traditionally been limited.“, says Jacob Flärdh, Secretary General for Child10.
Child10’s vision is a world free from child trafficking and other forms of commercial sexual exploitation of children. We believe that change is achieved by a holistic child rights-based approach.
Mindful of the power of collaboration, every year Child10 selects and awards ten grassroots organizations from around the world to strengthen them and to enhance coordination and collaboration in the field of child trafficking. Over the course of one year, the Awarded Members jointly develop and advocate for powerful and durable solutions involving all actors in society to protect children from trafficking and sexual exploitation.
