‍‍Sofia Kouvelaki

Greece is one of the main point of entry into Europe for refugees and migrants, and the overcrowded and unsafe camps and receptions centers force many to live on the streets. HOME, a Greek non -profit organization ensures the sustainability of 11 shelters for unaccompanied minors in Athens, removing children from hazardous environments, protecting them from trafficking and other forms of exploitation, while also helping to integrate them into society.

Sofia Kouvelaki´s strong passion and supportive leadership to create sustainable long-term impact for children involving the local community transcends beyond her work. Her organization, the Home Project, consists of people dedicated to protect and support unaccompanied children and to challenge the hostile narrative on migrants and refugees in Greece.
